“It will cost you nothing to dream, and everything not to.”
This is just one of the many inspirational quotes found inside of Kristen Fairgrieve’s new line of beautiful handmade journals. Created from brown paper bags and full of pages that are adorned with layers of colorful embellishments, they are a true treasure to behold.
Meeting Kristen now, you wouldn’t believe that she didn’t always feel so creative and inspirational.
“Two years ago,” Kristen says, “I was emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted. I had been in the same soul-sucking career for 18 years – working 20 hours a day, most weekends too, never seeing my husband or friends, not able to enjoy the things that I was working so hard to have. I couldn’t sleep, I could barely eat, I broke out in hives and had stomach aches just about every day. I needed a change.”
When Kristen hit rock bottom, her well empty and echoing with hollowness, she decided to take a chance. In September 2010, during an economic time when she was lucky to even have a job, she quit. She left it all, deciding to Fill the Well and find her happiness.
Beginning with journaling, something she’d done since she was young, Kristen slowly worked her way into a happier and healthier life. With her love of writing and crafting, she began creating her own journals and writing children’s books. Slowly she filled the well and found her way.
Today, Kristen is very busy and incredibly fulfilled. She sells her own successful line of handmade journals on Etsy, has an exciting part-time job working from home, and inspires readers daily on her blog. And the cherry on top? She’s having a blast writing her first novel.
Kristen’s life has changed dramatically in the last two years. The greatest lesson she has learned, and the words she is living by this year are wise ones for us all-
“Let this be the year you release your fears about what you can achieve. Know for sure what you want and be willing to give yourself what you need to get it.” ~Oprah
